Memberships & Benefits

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport is a worldwide organisation with an established International pedigree. With over 33,000 members working in over 100 countries, the CILT spans the globe. It is an organisation that offers significant benefits to all its members, as well as a complete suite of educational courses internationally.

 


Why Join CILT International?

 

Individuals and professionals with a mutual job or career are the founders, and members of industry associations. They share similar goals and interests as well as challenges and concerns. Joining together as an organisation, members gain the ability to help each other by exchanging ideas and experiences. In addition, as a group, they have more power to impact outside elements that may have a bearing on their sector, such as national or state legislation.

Membership: By joining the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport you will gain that anchor. You will gain access to a unique source of support, knowledge, and networking, to assist you to develop, and to succeed throughout your professional life. All members are actively encouraged to progress through four membership categories through a commitment to continuing professional development and lifelong learning.

Membership of the Institute brings a host of benefits to an individual including:

    • Designatory post-nominals of your grade such as MILT, CMILT and FCILT. This is a badge of international recognition.
    • International, instant recognition as a professional in logistics and transport
    • International networking opportunities with other professionals in the Institute

 

Job Boards: In addition to using a specialized recruiter when searching for someone with specific industry experience it is more likely that a human resource manager, or a recruiter, will turn to association members first. The probabilities of finding someone with specific qualifications are much greater from this pool of candidates than from a more generic pool, such as a local newspaper. Those who join and get involved in industry organizations are seen as having initiative, a willingness to continue their education, and stay up-to-date with what is going on in the industry.




Membership Grades

Each grade of membership has its own criteria set out, which must be met in order for he grade to be awarded.

 

Student Member

The grade of Student Member is reserved for students taking the International Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma, and do not yet qualify for any of the higher grades of membership. On completing their course, they become an Affiliate member until such time that they upgrade their membership.

 

Affiliate

The applicant needs only to have an interest in logistics and/or transport to meet the criteria for this grade. The Affiliate grade has no post-nominal and Affiliate members are not entitled to vote at the AGM.

 

Member - CILT International Application

 

The applicant must have completed the International Certificate, or exempting qualification, and have at least 3 years junior management experience in the logistics and transport sector. Members are entitled to use to post-nominal MILT, and are allowed to vote at the AGM.

 

Chartered Member

The applicant must have completed the International Advanced Diploma, exempting qualification, and have at least 5 years experience in the logistics and transport sector, of which at least 2 must be at a senior management level. Chartered Members are entitled to use the post-nominal CMILT, and are allowed to vote at the AGM.

 

Chartered Fellow

 

The applicant must already be a Chartered Member, and must have at least 7 years high-level management experience in the logistics and transport sector. Chartered Fellowship may also be awarded, in exceptional circumstances, to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the logistics and transport sector, or those who have attained a position of eminence in their field. Chartered Fellows are entitled to use the post-nominal FCILT, and are allowed to vote at the AGM.

 

Corporate Membership - CILT International Corporate Membership

 

Corporate Membership is open for Corporate Companies operating within or alongside the Logistics, Transport & Supply Chain Sector and environment. Corporate memberships will entitle the membership for the Corporate Company and 2 individual members.
